Creatively strong in short outing
Rodriguez recorded one shot (one on goal), five crosses (two accurate) and two corners in Tuesday's 1-0 win over DR Congo.
Analysis: Rodriguez was deployed once again on the right but was all over the pitch, looking to build up play and dictate the game. After failing to register a chance created in the first game, he more than made up for it here, topping the entire match in chances created with five despite only playing 58 minutes, with much of that creative output coming from his set piece duties. He also threatened directly, firing a well-struck shot from outside the box that forced an impressive save from Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi. His early exit was felt by the team, as Colombia visibly struggled offensively without him, though they were fortunate enough to still find the back of the net.
Creative presence in opening win
Rodriguez had two shots (one on goal), four crosses (two accurate) and two corners in Wednesday's 3-1 victory against Uzbekistan.
Analysis: Rodriguez started Colombia's World Cup opener and was involved in the team's possession-based approach that saw them dominate large spells of the match, particularly in the first half when Colombia controlled the tempo. He helped Colombia build the platform from which Daniel Munoz's 40th minute opener was scored and contibuted two shots, four crosses and took two corners as the principal set piece taker for the Cafeteros. Rodriguez's continued influence in midfield will be key as Colombia look to build on their winning start in Group K.
